Session 71: A Chickenshit Morkoth and Three Vrocks

As Melgarin starts running toward the Morkoth, 3 “vultury looking” things pop in beside it. The Morkoth then flies over land and executes everyone within 40' of it while it hovered 20' in the air. The vultury looking things (Vrocks) start dancing (while flying) while the Morkoth hypnotizes Elanor. Hilde casts fly on Melgarin, while Elanor is fascinated by the Morkoth's tentacles. Melgarin casts benign transposition on Elanor, while Hilde figures out the Vrocks dancing will result in

At the end of 3 rounds of dancing, a wave of crackling energy flashes outward in a 100-foot radius. All creatures except for demons within the radius take 20d6 points of damage (Reflex DC 18 half). Stunning, paralyzing, or slaying one of the Vrocks stops the dance. The save DC is Charisma-based.

Elanor casts a fireball, eliminating the mirror images of the Vrocks. Hilde then unsuccessfully casts flesh-to-stone against the Vrocks. Melgarin knocks one of them prone using an overrun tactic, stopping the dancing and postponing the lightning of doom. The Morkoth flies back to the lake and submerges. Hilde attempts to disintegrate one of the Vrocks while Elanor starts stabbing the prone one. Melgarin and Elanor then dispatch one Vrock by stabbing it repeatedly, while Hilde casts disintegrate on another, before Melgarin slices and dices the final Vrock. The Morkoth emerges from the lake, and quickly flies to the east, out of range of “Hilde's Heroes”. The team then continues clockwise around the lake, attempting to get everyone from the city to evacuate.

As Melgarin, Hilde, and Elanor meet up with Loskid at the western gate, Elanor notices a very large, very red dragon flying lazily around the pillar of steam emitting from the lake. Of note, at this point, both Melgarin and Elanor are covered with a tangle of viny growths. The team then begins the long walk to the nearby town of Red Gorge with the refugees…
