The sage had completed his research, yet one final task remained. He asked the party to travel to a point directly between the two locations where the party had previously found alters. The party traveled back down the Western Highway and arrived at the forested area midpoint between the two cities. A magical bear chewed the barbarian into pieces, but was eventually brought down. The group discover it could talk, and granted its request for death. A short slaughter of some gnolls later, and the party arrived at a massive hole in the ground and found a great pack of Worgs. A large battle later, Rodo had fallen, and the party retreated back to Brünest.
