Wildspace is a spelljammer-based setting. Planetary systems are encapsulated in enormous crystal spheres, floating in phlogiston.

There are several major territories in Wildspace:

• The (Lost) Imperium - the militant remnants of the formerly invincible Dwarven empire
• The Triumphant Cycle - a strictly hierarchical Elvish monarchy
• The Scro Emirates - a loose alliance of Orc nations
• The Concordance - an oddly ethical necrocracy
• Uropator - an Illithid hivemind
• The Madworlds - an otherwise unclaimed space infested with beholders
• The Skylands - a xixchil nature preserve
• The Perfected Society - a racist and xenophobic gnome technocracy
• The Free Trader's Guild Territories - a Neogi hunting ground
• The Arcane Consortium

Several minor factions are also notable enough to be worth mentioning:

• The Brightest Flame - an area full of fire elementals
• The Dreamsphere - inhabited by aboleths, and contained jointly by the neogo and Uropator
• The Twilight Ravening - a rapidly expanding kython brood which devastated the Dwarven empire
