-Ianto "Two-Yachts" Crichton+Ianto "Two-Yachts" Crichton is an Arilian con man. He was born to an Arilian tribe,, but quickly realized he preferred the trappings of civilization. As soon as he could, he bluffed his way into passage on a Merchant Marine ship, and never looked back. After an unfortunate food-poisoning incident decimated the senior enlisted and officer ranks, he was field-promoted to lieutenant for the remainder of that voyage. He walked away at the end of that voyage, and parlayed his naval "career" into a lucrative business development job for a military shipbuilding concern. He used contacts from that position to land a permanent research chair at an Arilian university. While there, he spun up a joint partnership with a few likeminded individuals, and got a series of public/private partnership grants through the Zandian government for transutilization of the native Arilian oceanic shipbuilding infrastructure with starship construction. In practice, this meant that Zand significantly overpaid for the construction of an oceanic yacht and a star yacht of similar design, both owned by the partnership, while also filling their bank accounts. Unfortunately, after the first round of the study was complete and Ianto was on Zand negotiating for even more expensive follow-on contracts, his partners dissolved the partnership, assigning the overvalued yachts to him as most of his share of the assets, transferred the cash to offworld accounts, and quietly disappeared. Ianto has lived a socialite life since then (aided by his yacht ownership), but has nearly run out of money.
